Naples- Ischia - Capri & Amalfi Coast 7 days / 6 nts

1st day - Naples
Arrival at Napoli Capodichino airport and transfer   to  hotel in the centre. Visit with local guide of the National Archaeological Museum of Naples is considered one of the most important cultural centre in the world for the quantity and quality of the Greek and Roman relics like the Farnese Hercules, the Farnese Cup, a splendid example of cameo. Quick   lunch at a restaurant close-by. In the afternoon continuation of the visit of the city  that has been occupied by the Longobards, the Normans, the French and the Spanish until 1860, when Garibaldi annexed to Italy. The Piazza Plebiscito built in 1836, the Palazzo Reale built in 1843, the San Carlo Theatre built in 1737 and The Gallery Umberto I built in 1884. Dinner at hotel and   overnight.
 
2nd day - Naples
After breakfast   full day visit with   local guide of the Museum of Capodimonte wanted from Carlo Borbone on the lovely hill of Capodimonte. The Reggia of Capodimonte became the residence of Giuseppe Bonaparte and after the reunion of Italy, the residence of the Savoia family. You can admire the Farnese collection, the Roman collection and the Parmesan collection. In the afternoon visit Posillipo area with the little island of Nisida, a small island of volcanic origin. The island belonged to Bruto and here was decided by Bruto and Cicerone the conspiracy against Cesare in 44 B.C. and after Bruto’s death, his wife Porzia commit suicide on this island. Continue with the visit of  Castle Nuovo and the Civic Museum & Library of National History. The castle was built between 1279 and 1282 from Charles I of Anjou from whom it gets its original name, “The Maschio Angioino”. It was called the new castle after the extensive renovations commissioned by Alfonso of Aragon. In the Chapel of Santa Barbara you can find frescoes by Giotto and his student Maso Blanco. Within the Castle are housed the Neapolitan Society of National History with 170 volumes, prints and manuscripts. Dinner at a typical restaurant at Borgo Marinaro. Overnight   at hotel.
 
3rd  day – Ischia
After breakfast you   will reach the Beverello harbour   for embarkation to Ischia Island.
Half day visit with local guide of the largest island in the Bay of Naples of volcanic origin, that offers many picturesque aspects: the old fishing villages, the well equipped bathing and health resorts, the comfortable beaches, the rugged rocks falling into the sea and the excellent cuisine. Time free for lunch.
Visit of Casamicciola, Lacco Ameno, Forio, Sant’Angelo and Ischia Porto.   Back to Napoli and free dinner.
 
4th day - Pompei / Sorrento
After breakfast departure to Pompei where   you will visit   with local guide the ancient roman town that in 79 A.C. was covered of lava by the eruption of the Vesuvio volcano. In 1748 started the excavations and nowadays we can see the rest of city that became the commercial centre of that area in a strategic position near the river Sarno. Time for a quick lunch and continue to Sorrento. Enjoy the panorama along the coast with the view of the rugged and inaccessible cliffs soar upwards between caves and enchanting bays. The   visit of Sorrento with Piazza Tasso, the Cathedral, the St. Francis cloister and its gardens of orange and lemon trees but also famous for the “ limoncello”, a liqueur made of lemon. Dinner at hotel and overnight.
 
5th day - Capri
After breakfast embarkation from Sorrento harbour to reach Capri Island. Full day visit with local guide of  Capri, the only island of the Parthenopean Gulf which is not of volcanic origin and from where the Emperor Tiberius ruled the Roman Empire for the last ten years of his reign, from Villa Jovis, famous for its multicoloured marble floor. When in 1800 the German Koposch discovered the Grotta Azzurra, Capri became a destination of many intellectual foreign people. The main village is Capri with its famous Piazzetta, Marina Grande is the island’s most important harbour, and Anacapri is the second largest village of the island, from where you can reach the Blue Grotto , one of the most famous and beautiful limestone caves for the reflection of the sea colour as well as the submerged remains of Roman walls. Visit   of   the Blue Grotto, Axel Munthe’s Villa San Michele    with panoramic   view from its gardens and
down to   Capri with the Augustus Gardens , the Faraglioni and   La Piazzetta. Time for   shopping.
Back to Sorrento   by ferry boat. Dinner at a local restaurant of the harbour with   music . Overnight at hotel.
 
6th day - Amalfi Coast/Naples
After breakfast departure for the visit of the Amalfi Coast full of towns which stand in a panoramic position overlooking the Salerno Gulf. The most fascinating place on the AmalfiCoast is Positano, which according to the tradition was founded by inhabitants of the nearby Paestum. The centre of the town is enchanting with the small Flavio Gioia square, among the delightful white pastel-coloured houses and their typical cubic shape and greenery of luxuriant gardens, stands in the parish church of Santa Maria Assunta with its splendid majolica dome. Lunch with  fresh fish menu. Continue   by  ferry boat to reach Amalfi   famous for the Duomo di Sant’Andrea situated at the top of a steep flight of steps; the façade and the cupola are decorated with mosaics, a mixture of Saracen and Romanesque Style. Continue by ferry boat to Vietri famous for the artistic ceramics where you will meet your coach.
Time for   shopping. Farewell dinner  at a local  restaurant with tarantella music. Back to Naples and overnight.
 
7th day – Naples
After breakfast departure for Napoli Capodichino Airport for departure.
