Sicily : The Baroque & the Volcanoes 6 days / 5 nts

1st  day – Catania/ Siracusa 
Arrival in Catania airport and transfer to Siracusa. Visit wil local guide of the ancient centre of the Isle of Ortigia,     the Archaeological Park with the Latomie like the Orecchio di Dionisio (cave) and the Greek Theatre built in the V century B.C. where the Greek tragedies took place. Important is the Archaeological Museum too, where we will can see many statues and from the prehistory to the V century B.C.
Accommodation in hotel dinner and overnight.
 
2nd  day – Ragusa/Modica/Noto/Siracusa 
After breakfast departure for the visit with local   guide of Ragusa split in 2 sides; the new Ragusa has been rebuilt after the earthquake in 1693, you can see the Cathedral of San Giovanni in a wide square; the Palazzo Bertini built at the end of 1700 and famous for the 3 mascarons which represent the 3 social classes ; the Santa Maria delle Scale with 4 gothic arcades. The Ilba   is the old part of the city where you can see the Cathedral of San Giorgio with a monumental staircase; San Giuseppe Church in perfect Sicilian Baroque Style.
Continue to Modica built on the top of a rock between two rivers and rebuilt after the earthquake with calcareous stones. You will see San Giovanni Evangelist Church on the top of the city, The Palazzo Napolino and the Cathedral of San Giorgio with a baroque staircase of 254 steps; The San Pietro Church with many baroque details .
In the afternoon   visit of  Noto, the capital of the Baroque style in Sicily, where you can admire the Cathedral which dome has been partly destroyed in 1996; San Domenico Church famous for its portal in Sicilian Baroque style; the Nicolai Palace with the balcony .Back to Siracusa for dinner and overnight.
 
3rd  day – Catania
After breakfast departure for Catania and accommodation in hotel.
Visit with local guide of the Cathedral and the square where you can see the tomb of the famous Musician Vincenzo Bellini born in Catania; the Palazzo Biscari, is the most fascinating palace of Catania and the Duomo square is famous for the elephant fountain which is the symbol of the city.

4th  day – Etna/Taormina
After breakfast departure for visiting the Europe’s highest active volcano up to the
Rifugio Sapienza and by jeep and alpine guide up to the 3.000 meters to see the new Crater. In the afternoon visit with local   guide of Taormina, the small Medieval village famous for its narrow streets and the Greek Theatre. Visit of the Palazzo Corvaja, a Norman structure where the first Sicilian parliament took place in 1411. The centre with the cathedral is famous for the Piazzetta where the a Baroque fountain takes place.
Accommodation in hotel dinner and overnight. 
 
5th day – Milazzo/Vulcano/Milazzo/ Taormina 
After breakfast departure for  Milazzo. You will reach  Volcano Island by ferry-boat ; this island has been chosen   from Omero as the God of Fire and for this reason all volcanoes has this name in the world. The Gran Cratere is still alive. Visit   with archaeologic guide .
Back to Milazzo by ferry-boat and then back to Taormina. Dinner and overnight in hotel        
 
6th  day Taormina/Catania   
After breakfast departure for Catania airport.
